Microneedling

Collagen remodeling. Smoother texture. Your skin, working smarter.

Microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries that activate your skin’s natural repair response, helping stimulate collagen and elastin and improve the appearance of texture, fine lines, pores, pigmentation and scarring.

Microneedling at Bumblebee is performed exclusively by Amber Swartz, RN + Licensed Esthetician.

With 23+ years in esthetics and a nursing background, 2008, Amber combines advanced skin knowledge with a thoughtful, goal-driven approach to every treatment.

Benefits

Microneedling is a skin rejuvenation treatment that stimulates the production of collagen and elastin and promotes cell turnover. It helps improve the overall texture and tone of the skin. It can reduce the appearance of enlarged pores, refine rough skin, and even out pigmentation caused by age spots or sun damage.

During your treatment, one of our skilled providers will apply a numbing cream and then gently move the microneedling device over the skin, creating micro-injuries. You may experience some pressure and slight prickles. These micro-injuries trigger the body's natural wound healing response, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. Following microneedling, your skin may appear red or slightly swollen, similar to a mild sunburn. These effects are temporary and usually subside within a day or two.

It may take several weeks to notice the full results. By then you will see visible improvements in texture, tone, and overall appearance with fresher, smoother and more even-looking skin. Depending on your goals and skin condition, multiple sessions, usually spaced several weeks apart, may be recommended to achieve optimal results.

All this makes it an ideal treatment for those looking to address signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles, as well as individuals seeking to improve pigmentation irregularities, large pores, and skin laxity. Microneedling can also be tailored to address different types of scarring.

It is a result driven treatment. Take the skin to new levels. Some great research is being conducted on it. Check it out. Click for: FAQ

Before your treatment

Microneedling sessions are typically spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. You also have the option to combine microneedling with PRP to help you achieve your desired results faster.

Discontinue use of Retin A, Retinols, Vitamin A creams, and other topical medications for 3-5 days before and after your microneedling treatment.

Sun exposure and/or usage of a tanning bed, including self-tanning products, must be avoided for a minimum of 24 hours and preferably one week before and after the treatment. Sun exposure will increase the risk of hypopigmentation (white spots) or hyperpigmentation (dark spots), both of which could last for several months or even permanently. A microneedling treatment will not be administered on sunburned skin.

Accutane and any other photosensitizing medication should be discontinued for a period of at least 6 months prior to receiving treatment and should not be used during your course of treatment.
You may not receive any type of chemical peel on the treatment area, 2 weeks prior or 2 weeks after.
Waxing and/or use of chemical depilatories must be avoided for 2 weeks prior to and after the treatment. Shaving is allowed immediately before treatment and 48-72 hours after treatment as long as there is no skin irritation.

You may not receive a microneedling treatment if you are pregnant, lactating, taking blood thinners, if you have been treated for skin cancer in the treatment area or if you have acne or open lesions in the treatment area. Also, surgical scars must be healed for six months prior to microneedling.

If you are prone to keloid scarring, please consult your doctor before receiving a treatment.

Day Of

Come with clean skin and no makeup if possible—but if life happens, we’ve got you.

Plan for a little extra time before treatment for topical numbing. Amber, RN will review your skin, goals and current routine before getting started and make sure the treatment plan makes sense for you that day.

After treatment, your skin will likely look pink or flushed and may feel warm or tight—think mild sunburn, not hide-from-the-world downtime.

A few day-of reminders:

  • Skip strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms and hot tubs afterward.
  • Plan to go makeup-free for the rest of the day.
  • Avoid direct sun and excessive heat.
  • Keep your hands off your freshly treated skin as much as possible.
  • And yes—a clean pillowcase that night is a good idea.

We’ll send you home with everything you need to know for the next few days, so there’s no homework required before you arrive.

Post Treatment

What should I expect after microneedling?

Your skin may look pink, feel warm, tight or slightly sensitive for the first day or two while the repair process begins.

For the first 24 hours, keep things simple: avoid makeup, sweating, heat, saunas, hot tubs and direct sun. We’ll send you home with your post-care instructions and guide you on when to cleanse, hydrate and restart your regular skincare.

The big picture: gentle, clean + hydrated while your skin does its work.
