Eyebrow tint is a vegetable dye that’s activated by peroxide. Regular tint colors the eyebrow hairs, making them appear fuller and darker. It lasts roughly for around four weeks and is perfect for those wanting to build up color to their existing eyebrow hair.
FAQ's
Who should have their eyebrows tinted?
The best answer is: Everyone! Why? Well, those with lighter hair will need their eyebrows tinted to make them darker (pop) even if it is just a shade darker, this will give you so much more definition and will pick up the finer, fluffy hairs to create a shape you never knew you had! This even applies for those with darker hair as well as they will have lighter, “fluffy”, hairs that will need tinting to achieve a more defined eyebrow shape. Even those with eyebrow tattoos will benefit from having their eyebrows tinted because it will refresh the color of the tattoo by refreshing the hair colors, making the eyebrows appear darker and more defined. If you miss that first week where your eyebrows are freshly tattooed then you will love having your eyebrows tinted! Tinting will ensure that the shape is beautifully defined, and the brows are more visible. Tinting will also help create that perfect frame for your eyes!
Which tint color is for you? Your Esthetician choose will depend on how much hair you have, what kind of skin type you have, and also what look you are wanting to achieve. We welcome photos and collaboration. It can take a few sessions to really tweak and hone in on what works best.
Are there any side effects I should be concerned about? A real concern for some is eye sensitivity and safety. “If done by a well-trained and highly experienced esthetician or hair colorist who knows what they are doing, it’s absolutely fine,” dermatologist Jeannette Graf, MD, says. If you wear contact lenses, be sure to take them out before the procedure. We never use hair dye on lashes or brows; it’s too harsh, instead we use a formula and processing solution formulated for those areas.
I am pregnant or breast feeding, can I receive the service?
We prefer to wait till post pregnancy and breast feeding as the hormone surge makes the results unpredictable, it can take too quickly or not at all. There is also an increased risk for a chemical burn related to the processing cream we use.
TIPS TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR TREATMENTS
After you have tinted your eyebrows or eyelashes with, it’s important that you follow the proper aftercare to get the most out of your treatment.
WHAT TO AVOID
First of all, you will need to avoid heat treatments or sunbathing for the next 24 hours as both of these can cause the tint to fade. You should also avoid putting any makeup on or around your eyebrows and eyelashes for at least 12 hours. In fact, it’s recommended that you avoid touching your eyebrows or eyelashes after the treatment. Other things that should be avoided for the next 24 hours include swimming, saunas, perfumed products, and oil-based makeup remover. All of these can damage your eyebrow or eyelash tint and cause it to fade prematurely. If you wear contact lenses, it is recommended that you avoid using them for the rest of the day. You will also need to keep your eyelashes dry for the next 24 hours after having them tinted.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Can last for four-to-six weeks before your eyelashes start to grow again and the effects of the tint to start to diminish. The effects of the eyebrow tint last between two and four weeks depending on how quickly your eyebrows grow. You can repeat the eyebrow tinting treatment once the effects start to fade, 2-4 weeks. The eyelash tint can be reapplied after four- six weeks.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Eyebrow and eyelash tinting treatments often do not cause any adverse effects, but experiencing redness and irritation is always a possibility if you have allergies or sensitive skin (not just get pin easily but true itchy, burning, have to take benadryl type of issues). If you experience any redness, irritation, or swelling, immediately apply a cold compress to the affected area and contact your stylist for advice on what to do next. If the swelling or redness persists, seek medical attention. A patch test is recommended if you are concerned about an allergic reaction or irritation. A patch test is completed 48 hours prior to the appointment. We place a small amount of the tint on your wrist or behind your ear, your preference.
